Chicken Run

While going through chicken photos for another artwork I was concentrating on, I noticed the running chicken photos I took at Stone Garden Farm when the owner had let the chickens out of the coop to wander the farm.

After creating the composition “Idle Gossip”, I set out to make “Chicken Run”. However, all my pictures were not at the angle I wanted or showed the speed I was looking for. I realized that I was going to have to draw a chicken from scratch. To show speed, I played with a variety of brushes I had and kept the background extremely simple. I wasn’t too far into this composition when I realized that this was going to work well as an abstract. I continued to work in that direction. I love abstracts but up until now have not featured them on my website.
