Grandpa’s Skates

A favorite memory of mine was to visit my grandmother in Western New York. In her basement, she had kept her children’s favorite toys and sports equipment. Leather ski boots and skis that were only wooden slats with a leather strap, wooden blocks that made into a different puzzle on each side, a metal tube that had a slide that when you blew into it you could made music. These items fascinated me. When I saw these skates hanging on a wall memories flooded back to my grandmother’s basement. You can just imagine the hours of delight these skates brought to their original owner.
