Celtic Dragon Walking Stick

Carving this walking stick was an immensely enjoyable experience for me. I took the clues from the stick’s form to direct my hand. Starting with the dragon head, he came out looking like a Celtic dragon warrior so I ran with it and carved the Celtic knot patterns. One eye is carved and painted while the other eye looks like he fought hard in battle – taking advantage of a knot positioned in the perfect location. His horns are actual deer antlers. A variety of beautiful agates run down his neck along with a show of dangling whiskers. While most of him is left his natural color, parts are stained to accentuate detail. He is finished with three coats of oil based exterior polyurethane varnish.
Fitted at its’ business end with a hiking spike for rough terrain, held with a brass cap makes him as practical as he is unique. The spike is fitted with a rubber cover that screws securely for flat or indoor use. This walking stick is the perfect gift for your nature loving person.
